England got their
World Cup of Darts campaign underway with a comfortable 8-4 victory over Latvia. Afterwards, the confidence in the team was flowing.
"That wasn't our greatest performance but it's what we needed. We needed to know we can win not playing our best," said
Michael Smith in a post-match interview with Online Darts. "The other team played for the last two days. I think we'll be better tomorrow," adds
Rob Cross.
A team of world champions, England are the number one seeds in the tournament. In the eyes of the many though it's Wales, with Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton who are favourites for the overall tournament victory.
"Not putting the other teams down but they're definitely favourites," says Cross. "But the passion is there, the work rate is there, everything is there. If we get through, we'll be alright this year."
"It's just all about just making sure Michael Smith's right, Rob Cross is right. If we do that every chance to win," Cross continues. "If we play our best we win all day long."
