Kuivenhoven hopes to use Edgar tie at World Championship to save Tour Card

Maik Kuivenhoven goes into his World Championship debut against Matthew Edgar in the first round. The winner of this tie will face Mensur Suljovic in the second round.

"In itself I'm satisfied with it", said Kuivenhoven to RTL 7 about his draw. "I think I could have had it harder. Definitely a good player and I will have to be my best to win. But it could be worse for sure. I hope to win the first round to secure my Tour Card. That's what it will all be about in the coming weeks. ''

So Suljovic waits in the second round if he wins. The Austrian has had intermittent form this year, but Kuivenhoven does not want to think too much about this possible meeting.

''It can always surprise. Everyone knows what he can do, so it will be a tough game. But we're going to take it, match by match and Matthew Edgar is first. Then we'll look at it further. ''
