Van den Bergh looks forward to World Championship in confident mood

Dimitri Van den Bergh is eagerly looking forward to the 2020 PDC World Darts Championship.

The World Matchplay champion will face the winner of the tough tie between Luke Humphries and Paul Lim in the second round.

Van den Bergh was seeded ninth for this years tournament: "I assume that in the second round I will just do my job as a top-32 player. I have a lot of confidence in this, and I always am extremely difficult to beat on stage,” said the 26-year-old Belgian to RTL 7.

In recent months, Van den Bergh has been struggling with a knee injury. "I always have to wear a brace, which actually takes over the function of my fully torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Because I have to be very careful in daily life, I don't really have much trouble with it during darts matches. Surgery is necessary anyway, but that has to be postponed for a while due to the busy PDC calendar. In the meantime I have to be professional and learn to deal with it.”
