Luke Humphries and
Peter Wright joined Michael van Gerwen and Ricardo Pietreczko in qualifying for the semifinals at the
German Darts Championship. The semifinals and finals are later in the evening.
Wright did not get off to a good start and was facing a 3-0 deficit after three legs. However, with a 14-darter, 104 finish, 70 finish and a 10-darter, 'Snakebite' quickly turned around and was ahead 4-3. Heta then threw out 100 to make it 4-4. A 14-darter gave Wright the lead again, after which the Scot secured victory with a 62 check-out.
Humphries then became the last semifinalist at the Euro Tour tournament in Hildesheim after a 6-4 victory over Rob Cross. 'Cool Hand Luke' played another excellent match with an average of 106 and a 46 percent finishing percentage. In fact, it was his eighth consecutive 100+ average on the Euro Tour for Humphries.
Cross still managed to make up an 0-2 deficit, but then saw Humphries start the fifth leg with two 180s. The seventh and eighth darts also hit the treble, but the double 12 was missed for a nine-darter. An 11-darter did put Humphries up 3-2 before he doubled the lead with a 14-darter.
The deficit was halved after a 123 finish from Cross, but Humphries then threw an 11-darter to make it 5-3. Cross connected once more before Humphries put a 13-darter on the scoreboard for a 6-4 final score.
