Luke Littler smashed his own record average in a mind blowing display on Sunday afternoon at the
Czech Darts Open. 'The Nuke' had already beaten Nathan Aspinall 6-1 on Saturday night with an average of 110.43, but Littler proved in the third round that he could do even better.
The 17-year-old took off like a train and took a 2-0 lead with two 12-darters. A 13-darter then made it 3-0, before Heta got on the scoreboard with a 14-darter.
With a 14-darter and an 11-darter, Littler then extended his lead to 5-1. Heta kept in the match with a 12-darter and a 14-darter, but still had to bow out. Littler ended the match in phenomenal fashion with a 10-darter, bringing the average vs. Littler to 116.51.
A cracker awaits in the quarterfinals against
Michael van Gerwen as he advanced at the Czech Darts Open on Sunday afternoon without much trouble. In the third round of the Euro Tour tournament in Prague, 'Mighty Mike' won 6-2 over Alan Soutar.
Only in the beginning of the match did Van Gerwen have a bit of a hard time with Soutar, although that was really mostly down to the Dutchman himself. Van Gerwen was not out in five innings in the first leg and was put behind by Soutar.
In the second and third leg, Van Gerwen missed some doubles, but the 35-year-old from Vlijmen got away with it and still managed to take a 2-1 lead. With a 14-darter and a 129 finish, the world number three then ran out to a 4-1 lead.
Soutar missed two chances in the sixth leg to win his second, after which Van Gerwen made it 5-1 with double 4. Leg six went to Soutar, who hit 104. Van Gerwen then ended the match with a 143 finish.
