Lok Yin Lee and Sandro Sosing secured participation in the World Darts Championship through the PDC Asian Championship on Sunday. With that, eight of the nine Asian participants for the World Championship are now known.
Two World Championship spots were up for grabs at the PDC Asian Championship. The tournament was won by Lourence Ilagan, but the dart player from the Philippines had already qualified for Alexandra Palace. That did not apply to losing finalist Sosing, however, who could therefore take home a World Championship spot.
Ilagan's World Championship spot advanced to a semifinalist. Lok Yin Lee and Jenn Ming Tan were the two players who lost in the semifinals. Because Lee was ranked higher on the PDC Asian Tour Order of Merit, the spot went to him.
Xiaochen Zong (winner PDC China Championship), Tomoya Goto (winner PDJ Tour), Alexis Toylo (winner Asian Tour), Paolo Nebrida (number three Asian Tour) and Ryusei Azemoto (number four Asian Tour) are the other confirmed Asian qualifiers for the World Darts Championship. To that will be added the winner of the Indian qualifying tournament on Oct. 28.
