Brendan Dolan and
Martin Lukeman joined the last 32 at the
European Darts Matchplay in Trier on Friday afternoon.
Lukeman fell behind 4-1 to Graham Hall due to 12 missed doubles in the first five legs. After his opponent Graham Hall missed two chances to make it 5-1, Lukeman's comeback began with a 21-darter. A 20-darter made it 4-3, after which "Smash" finally began to find his rhythm.
The equalizer came in the eighth leg with a 14-darter, after which the Englishman took over the lead with a 16-darter. Lukeman then locked up the match with a 14-darter, making him face Nathan Aspinall in the second round on Saturday.
Dolan recorded an important victory over Connor Scutt. The Northern Irishman occupies one of the last qualifying spots for the World Matchplay and this Euro Tour tournament is the last event that counts in the qualifying race for the World Matchplay.
Scutt, however, missed far too many doubles to really cause Dolan any problems. Scutt missed two of his 11 darts on the dice, while Dolan was very alert on the dice and recorded a finishing percentage of 60 percent. The victory went 6-2 to the darter from Northern Ireland.
