Maijer misses darts on RTL 7: 'I find it especially unfortunate that at Viaplay there are far fewer people watching darts'

Until last year, Dutch TV viewers could follow all major darts tournaments on RTL 7. Since this year they have to pay for it at Viaplay.

Marcel Maijer was presenter of darts programs at RTL 7 for eleven years. "Of course I miss it," Maijer opens to Sportnieuws.nl. "I find it especially unfortunate that at Viaplay there are far fewer people watching darts, so the popularity of the sport also goes down."

Talk show

Maijer prefers not to really speak out about his colleagues at Viaplay. "Some things are good, others less so, but that is also allowed. By the way, at RTL 7 we haven't completely given up on darts. We discussed the possibility of making a talk show, but Viaplay prefers to keep everything to them and doesn't supply us with footage. Well, then it stops for the time being."
