Mardle and Part full of praise of Clayton: "I've said before about this event being a rhythm ruiner not for Jonny"

Wayne Mardle and John Part were full of praise for Jonny Clayton after he reached the final of the 2021 World Grand Prix in Leicester.

Mardle has said though that the only issue he has is that his record against his friend Gerwyn Price is poor.

"Jonny must be feeling a bit better about himself because he keeps doing it. There's a brilliant rhythm he's in, I've said before about this event being a rhythm ruiner not for Jonny Clayton," said Mardle to Sky Sports.

"His finishing stats throughout the event have been like we've never seen before. He will feel like he has a real chance. But this in a negative, when he plays Gerwyn (Price), he normally underperforms."

"He's got to be the more confident of the two that things will work out for him. Things seem to be coming easier to Jonny than Gerwyn," said Part to Sky Sports.

"He throws darts first and asks questions later. He hits what he's going for because he just gets on with it."
