Price and Clayton write PDC history at World Grand Prix

Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton have created a milestone at the World Grand Prix. It is the first time two players from Wales have faced each other in the final of a PDC major.

Clayton won 4-1 in sets over Danny Noppert in his semifinal on Friday night, while Price turned a 0-2 deficit into a 4-2 victory against Stephen Bunting.

Incidentally, this is not quite the first time two Welsh players have met in a major final. It happened twice in the BDO. Alan Evans won over David Jones in a Welsh final at the World Masters in 1975. A little more recently, in 2020, Wayne Warren defeated his compatriot Jim Williams in the final match of the BDO World Championship.
