Wayne Mardle has run the rule over the tie and said that he believes Van Gerwen will repeat the feat and by some margin he believes.
He pointed out a regripping problem for Aspinall and believes that if it's something he knows about, it could be an issue and that he can't play like he is on the ProTour at the moment so sees Mighty Mike win all over it.
"Michael is not really playing that well away from the main stage, but playing well on it and vice versa for Aspinall. He can't seem to string four, five or six legs together of brilliant darts like he's been doing on the Pro Tour," said Mardle to Sky Sports.
"Last week we saw some re-gripping again from him and only he will know if it's an issue because if you're not gripping the dart right and then you're re-gripping and it's fine, then that's not a problem if you're not thinking about it. If you're thinking about it, then it's a problem.
Only he knows if it's ruining his rhythm. Michael van Gerwen wins this for me and I think he wins it quite comfortably as well."
