A Last 16 was set for this qualifier through online stages with the players left battling it out in person in Fukuoka.
Those involved included Keita Ono, Mikuru Suzuki, Toru Suzuki and Edward Shoji Foulkes but it was only the latter who made it past the first match.
He lost in the Quarter-Finals to the eventual winner of the qualifier in Shibata who averaged 83 in a 5-3 win. He then breezed past fellow World Championship qualifier, Toru Suzuki.
Matsuda meanwhile saw off Ryota Ishiwata, Hideaki Iwasaki and Mitsuhiko Tatsunami to secure his place.
