Ryan Meikle saw off German ace Fabian Schmutzler in straight sets to finally get his first win on the PDC World Darts Championship stage.
Meikle was on his third attempt at winning on the Ally Pally stage and was facing a 16-year-old who was the second youngest in history to make it to the tournament.
"Growing up, it's every boy's dream. Not just to get here but to win a game. I know it's taken three years but that's worth the wait. I'm over the moon," said Meikle post match.
He also admitted that he took a lot from playing on TV only a few weeks ago.
"A huge amount, even three weeks ago playing at Minehead playing against Gary (Anderson). I think I've been on TV you know four or five times and I've learned every time little bits here or there. Tonight I showed a bit with finishing when I needed it. It's all experience I think."
Also praise was heaped onto his opponent and that it was the first time he was expected to win.
"I know he's only 16 but to qualify the way he did is unbelievable so every other time I've been on TV, there's been no pressure. I've played the big names."
Next up will be Peter Wright who he is buzzing to take on.
"Friday night, Ally Pally. Prime Time, the place is going to be rocking in there. So no pressure on me, I just can't wait. I can't wait to get back up there."
