William O'Connor saw a lead spurned against Danny Lauby Jnr who came back to force sudden death in a thrilling tie at the 2021/22 PDC
World Darts Championship.
O'Connor said that he took the foot off the gas and ended up paying for that as a result.
"You put it perfectly roller coaster. It was pretty nervous there towards the end. I missed a couple of darts there to win it. He came back at me and playing away in my head a little bit. I let it get it to me but I got there in the end," said O'Connor post match.
"I just thought to myself it's going easy, they're flowing easy. I can step it up a gear if I really need to is the way I felt but you can't feel like that, you have to feel like you're under pressure all the time. Otherwise that happens."
Next up is Glen Durrant and for O'Connor despite the recent form of the former Premier League champion, he is not taking him lightly.
"I don't approach the game like I'm playing Glen. I approach the game like I'm playing a game. So I need to be the best version of me so the way I approach the game is if I play my darts, I'm in with a shout. If I don't play my darts I'm going to lose."
