Ryan Meikle reflected after a stunning whitewash win over Jonny Clayton on the opening day of action at the Players Championship Finals.
Meikle said that the victory was unexpected even for himself and that it is the biggest win in his career and one that he believes could open the tournament up for him.
'I don't think anyone expected that, even myself. I'm dreaming really,' said Meikle to Live Darts.
If it was the biggest result of his career? 'I think so, live on TV kind of on Stage 2 so biggest game for me and I'm just happy to get through it.'
'I kept thinking if I had a chance before he got a shot at double I'd win and I didn't expect to but luckily I closed it out.'
Meikle will face Darius Labanauskas in the second round on Saturday afternoon. 'If it has opened it up, maybe I could be the one to have a good run. He's another good player but it's all on the day really. Hopefully I can have a good run but it's anyone's game really.'
The Barber also spoke about playing in the World Championship next month and admitted that it's a dream come true. 'As a young boy growing up I watched it every year, so to be playing in it this year; that's the dart player's dream. I can't wait for that.'
