Monk claims overall and final Icons of Darts League Week 4 Group Win

The Andover ace entered the tournament late on as a replacement for Anastasia Dobromyslova and despite having to play catch up matches for most of the week, he claimed three group wins including the final one as he faced stiff competition from Justin Smith, Ritchie Edhouse and Jarred Cole.

Smith had a superb start to day with victory over Edhouse 5-2 with a 96.7 average, two 180's and 5/8 on the doubles to put early pressure on Monk.

Monk answered that superbly with a 5-1 over Jose Justicia with a 10-darter along the way. It was Edhouse's turn for a flourish as he reeled off five straight legs from 3-0 down to see off Jarred Cole 5-3 with a 101 average and a high checkout of 170.

The next match though dictated the potential route of the overall standings as Monk came from 4-1 down to see off Justin Smith in a last leg decider with the latter busting 130 for the match. He followed that up with seeing off Edhouse 5-4 and he wrapped it up with a 5-4 victory over Jarred Cole to reach 30 points and also claim the final group.

The Icons of Darts League is a competition that runs on 24 different days from Monday April 6 through to Saturday May 2. Each playing week consists of six players. There are five players on each matchday with one player taking a rest.

Each day consists of four matches for each player with the player with the most wins claiming the group win for that day.
