Nicholson claims top spot in Icons of Darts League Week Three with games to spare after easing past Portela

Nicholson finished with a flourish hitting a 96 average with nearly 50 percent on the doubles. It is finally an overall win for 'The Asset' who has played in the competition since the start three weeks ago.

He has done so by claiming half of the group wins this week and could likely go on to the evening tournament A Night At The Darts which is where David Evans, Jason Askew and Wessel Nijman have ventured to after the Icons of Darts League.

Currently though today, Andy Jenkins and Adam Huckvale are both out in front after claiming consecutive wins. The former kicked off his day by seeing off Arron Monk 5-3 with the highlight being four 180's.

He followed that up by defeating the overall winner Paul Nicholson 5-2. Huckvale on the otherhand saw off Arron Monk in a scrappy 5-4 win and followed that up with a 5-2 win over Diogo Portela to give himself a chance of not finishing bottom for the week.

The Icons of Darts League is a competition that runs on 24 different days from Monday April 6 through to Saturday May 2. Each playing week consists of six players. There are five players on each matchday with one player taking a rest.

Each day consists of four matches for each player with the player with the most wins claiming the group win for that day.
