Owen Bates set to play at World Darts Championship without nickname after sexually charged moniker deemed unsuitable

Owen Bates has decided to compete in the World Darts Championship without a nickname. His original title of the "Master," but this nickname could not be used at the World Darts Championship.

Combined with his last name, it reads "Master Bates," and in an era of a woke culture, it has been deemed to not be acceptable to bear such a nickname at the PDC World Darts Championship.

First, a search was launched for a new nickname. But that hasn't yielded anything yet. ''So, no, I won’t have a new nickname for the World Championships, that’s for sure," Bates explains in conversation with the MODUS Super Series.
