David Pallett is doing extremely well on the Challenge Tour this year. As a result, the 32-year-old Englishman dreams of a return to the Pro Tour.
Pallett lost his Tour Card two years ago. "It's just about getting the confidence back really, it's been no secret that the last three or four years I've been a bit down in the dumps with the darts. It seems to have turned a bit of a corner at the minute and my rhythm, performance and my confidence is slowly coming back," said Pallett to Tungsten Tales back in July.
"When I first won on the Challenge Tour, I sort of expected to do quite well fairly easy and it just didn't happen. You come off the ProTour and think it's the second tour it should be fine but it's not as easy as you first think and that surprised me straight away."
But as he said it's about confidence rebuilding and he said he wants to prove he belongs.
"I wasn't too fussed about getting on the ProTour this year, mainly it was just sort of a rebuild year really to get the confidence up. Start playing again like I can, start averaging like mid 90's-100's. I'm slowly getting there now and hopefully four or five months of practice and hard work and I'll be ready for the ProTour."
"I want to prove I belong with some of the best in the world on the ProTour. I've been in the room before where you're only averaging 85 to 90, it's a hard place to be. It's not a nice place to be turning up and getting beat all the time. This year is a confidence rebuild year."
Lakeside
Pallett is additionally active on the WDF tour. "I haven't played BDO/WDF tournaments since I was 20 odd so to go back to one of them and do that was quite pleasing. I will try and get my Lakeside spot, I've never played there at the World Championship."
