PDC Chairman Barry Hearn awarded OBE in New Year Honours List

PDC Chairman, Barry Hearn has been awarded an OBE for services to sport over 40 years in the Queens' New Year Honours List.

Hearn as chairman of Matchroom Sport has overseen the rise of darts, snooker becoming chairman of the PDC in 2001.

Since then, he has taken the PDC to new heights with darts as a sport now a global phenomenon with record levels of prize money and has now been recognised as such.

He becomes only one of a few people involved in darts to receive an honour. These include John Lowe MBE, the late great Eric Bristow MBE and Trina Gulliver MBE.
