Petersen on Wright's dart changes: "You're only going to get burnt"

Devon Petersen is through to the knockout stage at the Grand Slam of Darts at the expense of Peter Wright who was knocked out with Ian White going through.

Petersen spoke during his post match media about an interview with Conor Benn, the boxer where he spoke about being away from his family and it is something he understood well.

He also discussed Peter Wright's game and his changing darts even halfway through the game at the moment.

"I'm an emotional creature if you must call it that. The questions they were asking it just triggered that kind of emotion, it's been a long few weeks away from the family which is the hard thing," said Petersen during his post match press conference.

"I saw the Conor Benn interview as well and it was looking like it's almost like I'm speaking to myself in a sense in the interview and every time he kind of welled up, I kind of needed to switch off at that point. I know exactly what he went through and what he's going through currently. I'm happy to top the group."

"If I play my normal game, there was no way he could catch me as his dart wasn't flying properly through the air, you could just see he was kind of reaching, stretching so it wasn't the Peter Wright we expected. If you're changing your darts all the time, you're only going to get burnt."
