Price reigns supreme in Sheffield with second weekly Premier League Darts title in dramatic Van Gerwen win

Gerwyn Price has returned to form and has claimed his second weekly title of this year's Premier League Darts campaign denying Michael van Gerwen 6-5 on Night 14 in Sheffield.

Price was a real outsider for the play-offs going into the final few weeks but has revived his hopes in true style by seeing off the second player who has confirmed his spot in Berlin in Van Gerwen.

Van Gerwen punished Price early on by hitting double 16 for an early break after one dart was missed for the hold. This proved to be the catalyst for MVG to attempt to run away with it as he went 3-1 up from there.

But Price continued to attempt to stay at arms length and hit a 161 and double 12 for a 3-2 deficit and a 76 checkout to then hold at 4-3.

An important impasse in the tie saw Van Gerwen squander four darts at double 12 and Price hit double two to level at 4-4. Important as from there, Price suddenly went one away at 5-4.

A sensational 95 checkout using all 19s from Van Gerwen saw him force a last leg decider but a 56 checkout saw Price seal it with the throw.
