Gerwyn Price continues to delight his home crowd in Cardiff after surviving a comeback and match darts to see off Michael van Gerwen in an epic clash winning it 6-5 in the end with
Nathan Aspinall up next in Night Two's conclusion of 2023
Premier League Darts.
Van Gerwen seemed out of sight and on his way to a second straight final but a crucial 180 from Price and more crucial misses from MVG with the crowd trying to will their man over the line allowed 'The Iceman' back to keep his cool on double 18 for the win.
Price led 5-3 in the early going hitting a 106 initially to make it 4-2 and go two legs away from the final. But Van Gerwen sealed consecutive legs to level at 5-5 including a 74 and 76 checkout with the latter being an 11-darter before the events of the final leg but will they get a Price win overall tonight.
Standing in his way is Aspinall who continues to impress on his return to Premier League Darts action.
He produced a 105 average again to dump out World Champion and World Number One, Michael Smith 6-4 and seal his spot.
To start, Smith produced a filthy 137 checkout using two double 20's to make it 1-1 and continued his insane finishing with a 1`37 and 148 to lead the match but he needed it with Aspinall playing out of his skin.
This showed as he hit a 129 to leave 32 which he pinned and albeit Smith clung on with a 121 checkout, Aspinall sealed the win with a 136 checkout. Utter class.
