Prolific Price begins European Championship campaign with Edhouse win, Heta surges past Clemens

Gerwyn Price lost out in the final of the World Grand Prix last weekend but as he looks to return to the winners' circle once more, he has made the best possible start at the European Championship.

Following along from Michael van Gerwen's win over Boris Krcmar, it was time for Price to make a statement and he did so defeating Ritchie Edhouse 6-2.

Edhouse hit five 180's in the tie showing his scoring power but it was a 104.5 average from 'The Iceman' and a cool 50% on the doubles which brought him through. He will now take on Adam Gawlas tomorrow in the Last 16 in Salzburg.

While Damon Heta concluded the line-up for the Last 16 with a 6-3 victory over Gabriel Clemens.

'The Heat' brought it to 'The German Giant' early on with back-to-back legs to gain an advantage at 3-1 up but at the break, it was finely poised with a 126 checkout on the bull seeing Clemens trail 3-2.

He made a mess though of levelling the game and Heta took advantage to surge one away where he would have the throw for the win. A win he claimed with a 15 darter in the form of a 96 checkout on double 18 to make it three legs on the spin and claim the win.
