Ricardo Pietreczko and
Dave Chisnall still return home with a win after taking part in the
Grand Slam of Darts. Both players had already been eliminated for a spot in the knockout stage, but still managed to record a victory on Tuesday night.
Chisnall took on Stowe Buntz, who caused shocks with wins over Peter Wright and Bunting. However, he failed to tie 'Chizzy', although Buntz did make it exciting after trailing 0-3. The victory eventually went 5-4 to Chisnall, who as a result at least finished third in his group while Buntz became group winner by winning three legs. The winner of the underdog match between Wright and Bunting becomes the number two, the loser of that match dropping to fourth place.
In a curious second match, Pietreczko eased saw off Nathan Aspinall 5-4. 'The Asp' was already sure of a place in the last 16 prior to the match, but still has to wait and see if he becomes the group winner due to this result.
Pietreczko had lost to Beau Greaves on Sunday while in the match he was booed loudly by the fans present. The German did not seem to have forgotten that yet, as he did not give the crowd a glance. Almost disinterested, 'Pikachu' threw his darts super fast and almost with no sort of rhyme or reason. Aspinall didn't seem to like it either, judging by his average of barely 82. Pietreczko countered with an 87 and that was enough for a narrow victory over the World Matchplay champion.
