Remarkable story as Maendl-Lawrance goes from fan to playing and winning in home town at German Darts Grand Prix

Winning a match on the stage and for a second consecutive week pushing Danny Noppert, rising German talent in Liam Maendl-Lawrance did that with a caveat this weekend at the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich.

Maendl-Lawrance who is 18 and has received plaudits for his talent but also a lot of attention for his slow playing style with his win over Robert Owen lasting over 40 minutes hails from Munich.

He was also in the crowd last year dressed as a bunny rabbit during Luke Humphries' title win. In one year, he has gone from being a paying customer to being paid to play on stage.

A European Tour story that ranks alongside Martin Schindler being previously a steward for sure but can he have similar success to 'The Wall'? The European Tour attendance effect if you will.
