Ritchie Edhouse can get ready for his first major final. The Madhouse made it to the final of the 2024 European Championship in Dortmund by defeating fellow Englishman Luke Woodhouse.
Edhouse started his tournament with an impressive win over Gian van Veen (6-1) with an average of 109 and then was also the better one against Michael Smith (10-9) and Gary Anderson (10-5). Woodhouse made his way to the last four by beating Ross Smith (6-1), Ryan Searle (10-8) and Dirk van Duijvenbode (10-4).
It soon became clear that Edhouse was going to be the surprise finalist at the top of the bracket. He broke Woodhouse in the first leg with a 48 checkout and, thanks to a 72 finish, took a 4-1 lead after the first session. The second session was also 4-1 for Edhouse, who notched an 11-darter in the ninth leg.
After the second break, Woodhouse threw a 14-darter to cut the deficit to 3-8. A 13-darter and a 150 finish from Woodhouse made it 5-10 moments later, but then Edhouse finished it off very nicely with a 147 finish.
In the final, Edhouse will face a Dutchman. He will meet the winner of the duel between Jermaine Wattimena and Danny Noppert. By reaching the European Championship final, Edhouse is already assured of participation in the Grand Slam of Darts in November.
