Ross Smith dumps out Michael van Gerwen to set up semi-final showdown with Luke Littler at Austrian Darts Open

An English winner of the Dutch Darts Open is now guaranteed. Joining Joe Cullen and Stephen Bunting in the final four, Ross Smith and Luke Littler have secured their semi-final spot.

Against Michael van Gerwen, Smith raced into a 3-0 a early on. Only in the fourth leg was Van Gerwen able to get on the scoreboard via a 120 finish. Smith then threw out 79 for 4-1. Van Gerwen was able to reduce the deficit to 4-2, but missed four chances on double 16. 'Smudger' punished these misses with a 90 finish and then pulled the match to himself with a 13-darter.

Earlier, Littler had seen off Danny. Noppert in an encounter where there momentum switched this way then that. 'The Freeze' managed to come back and force an 11th leg after a 5-3 deficit, but in the deciding leg Littler took his seventh matchdart.
