Non Tour Card holder Dom Taylor looked set to make it all the way to the final of Players Championship 28 only for a brilliant Ross Smith comeback to deny him. 'Smudger' will face Damon Heta for the title.
Heta was a comfortable winner over Mickey Mansell in his semi-final tie. The Australian was always in control and averaging 93.43, ran out a 7-2 winner, booking his place in the final.
Taylor meanwhile had to face the form player of the day in his semi-final, Ross Smith. 'Smudger' had already hit a perfect leg and multiple ton-plus averages during the day, but sadly for him couldn't replicate that form for much of the semi versus Taylor, as the Challenge Tour regular raced into an early lead. Smith though would not be denied and clinched a last leg decider victory.
