Martin Schindler and Christian Bunse started the opening day of the PDC Europe Super League without defeat with five victories over the course of the day.
Schindler recorded five wins in his group seeing off Dragutin Horvat, Lukas Wenig, Karsten Koch, Marcel Gerdon and Kevin Münch. Bunse produced in his group with Manfred Bilderl, Nico Kurz, Michael Hurtz, Jens Kniest and Sascha Stein.
In Group C, Kai Gotthardt and Florian Hempel lead with four wins each. Franz Rötzsch and Max Hopp also lead Group D with four points.
On Sunday, they will face off again. After this match day it is known which sixteen dart players will advance to the second phase of the PDC Europe Super League. The winner of this event will qualify for the PDC World Darts Championship.
Format
The 24 participants are divided into four groups of six darts. In each group, the players will play each other twice in a format of best of 11 legs on April 17-18. Each victory earns one point for the ranking.
Four players from each group will go through to the next round, which therefore consists of sixteen players. These will then be split into two groups of eight players. On April 19-20 they will play twice against the other players in their group. The four best players of both groups will go through to the final phase of the PDC Europe Super League.
From this stage onwards, all matches are knockout competitions. The quarter-finals will be played over best of 17 legs on April 21. The four remaining players will throw their semi-finals over best of 19 legs on April 22, followed by the final over best of 21 legs.
