Michael Smith and
Gerwyn Price are through to the final day at the
New South Wales Darts Masters after superb displays to continue proceedings in Wollongong.
Smith saw off Damon Heta in a
World Series of Darts classic with a 6-5 win sealing it with a 106.3 average and six 180's.
Heta began superbly hitting a 180 and pinned an 88 checkout for an 11-darter to hold and make it 1-0. Smith replied with a 13-darter on double 12 to make it 1-1. The holds continued with Smith locked in at 2-2.
Smith missed double 14 for a 121 checkout but Heta hit double eight to go 3-2 up from there to hold. Both exchanged 180’s before Smith hit an 86 checkout to hold at 3-3.
A 61 checkout was missed by Smith to go 4-3 up and Heta held before going 5-4 up. But Smith sent it all the way with a 91 checkout for an 11-darter.
Heta had the throw but Smith produced a superb 12-darter with a 180 and 82 checkout on double 16 to seal it.
While Price will face off with Fallon Sherrock after whitewashing Koha Kokiri 6-0 with a 104.8 average and 60% on the doubles.
Price pinned double 20 to go 1-0 up with a hold. A 56 checkout saw ‘The Iceman’ break which was consolidated on double 12 as he went half way to the finish at 3-0.
His brilliance continued with two 180’s in a row followed by a 56 checkout for an 11-darter to go 4-0 up. He held from there and sealed another 11 darter with a 42 checkout to claim the tie 6-0 in superb fashion.
