A lot has been made about Michael Smith's form away from the TV tournaments but he has stated that he's not really fussed about the European Tour and Pro Tour this year.
Smith added that his mindset has changed that he's going into these events looking forward to the next TV event; not the floor tournaments.
'I'm not doing it on the floor; this year I've not been really fussed even in the Europeans; I've been shocking in them but I'm still picking up on the TV,' said Smith to Live Darts.
'It's not like I'm playing badly on TV, I'm going into floor tournaments thinking let's get ready for the next TV event. I'm not really fussed.'
On potentially missing European Championship
Smith spoke about the
European Championship and potentially missing it; he said that it's a week off for him if he misses out and that he wants to get away from travelling as there are bigger tournaments to win.
'No, I've got a week off. I've just said five minutes ago that I'm not really bothered about the floor tournaments and the Europeans this year. For me I have won them, for me this year it was to win a major and that's all I've been trying to concentrate on.'
'The travelling I want to stay away from it. I want to get ready for the Grand Prix, the Champions League, the Grand Slam; there are a lot bigger tournaments to win. I'm not saying that European isn't, it's just something I want to focus on.'
