Smith smashes World Darts Championship record in run to final defeat

Michael Smith did pick up a new PDC World Darts Championship record in defeat to Peter Wright in the final at the Alexandra Palace.

Smith hit 83 180's during the tournament over his matches against Ron Meulenkamp, Willie O'Connor, Gerwyn Price, Jonny Clayton, James Wade and finally the victor in the final.

By comparison, this eclipses the previous record which was set by Gary Anderson who hit 71 in a tournament. Quality scoring from 'Bully Boy'.
