Alan Soutar will return on Saturday at the 2022/23
PDC World Darts Championship and will face Daryl Gurney after surging past Aussie debutant, Mal Cuming in straight sets.
Soutar wasn't at his 100% best but sealed an 86 average, four 180's and two ton plus checkouts with a 124 and 119 en route against the Oceanic Master.
Soutar started the match in superb fashion hitting a 180 and 140 en route to the opening leg. Soutar spurned darts for the set but Cuming couldn’t get on the board and the Scot made it 1-0 in sets.
Soutar busted 15 and Cuming sealed his first leg on double eight. The former though hit back with a break to go 1-1. His doubling percentage sat at 4/15 as he missed darts to go 2-1 up but finally got to the brink with Cuming missing a dart for another break.
A 124 checkout saw Soutar take the set. He missed 148 for 1-1 in the next set and but returned with Cuming missing 114 on double 20. Soutar punished a miscount with a 119 checkout to go one away and sealed it from there.
