Danny Noppert captured his second PDC title of the season Wednesday night by defeating compatriot Christian Kist in the final of Players Championship 22.
Noppert started the tournament with a resounding 6-0 victory over Alan Soutar. After that, Lee Evans (6-4), Chris Dobey (6-4), Steve Lennon (6-5), James Wade (6-4) and Michael Smith (7-1) was also thrown to the side by the former UK Open champion.
In the final, he was too good for a former Lakeside champion in Christian Kist in a Double Dutch affair 8-7. He spoke to Chris Murphy afterwards display his relief at the win.
“I am so relieved to get over the line. What a day it was,” reflected Noppert.
“It was really tough against Christian. His scoring was better than mine, so I had to fight for this game.
“These events are really hard. There are so many good players and I won, so that makes me really proud."
