With the BDO World Darts Championship not taking place this month due to the organisation’s demise, DartsNews looks back at classic moments and matches throughout January from the showpiece event.
Onto 2019 and we head into the penultimate year of the lookback of all previous BDO World Championships and for Glen Durrant, it was a crowning glory but also the end of an era.
He defeated Scott Waites 7-3 in the final to become three-time consecutive World Champion for the first time since Eric Bristow did in 1986 and also he was the first male player to win his first three World Championship Finals.
From there, like Waites, albeit with 'Scotty 2 Hotty' getting his Tour Card the year after, he headed to Q-School after previously saying he was BDO for life, a move which has seen him become Premier League champion and a mainstay in the top 16 of the PDC.
