With darts off our screens for the foreseeable future, DartsNews continues to take a look back at moments which shaped darting history and the next one involves a certain legendary Paul Lim.
Despite the evergreen Lim achieving lots of scalps and shocks in the past few years; as he has shown age is no barrier, it is his exploits at the 1990 BDO World Championship which stands out mostly.
'The Singapore Slinger' was facing off against Jack McKenna in the second round; he pinned a magical nine-dart finish which went into the history books as the first one at a World Championship.
It was that sought after that he claimed a bonus prize of £52,000; which was more than Phil Taylor got for winning the event.
This came after the
first TV nine-darter in 1984 hit by John Lowe. Lim nearly achieved the feat again at the 2018 World Championship in an
extraordinary moment as he continues to qualify year after year gracing the Alexandra Palace stage competing with the best.
