THROWBACK VIDEO: Van Gerwen explains surname pronunciation on World Matchplay debut

Michael van Gerwen will begin his fifteenth appearance at the World Matchplay at Blackpool's Winter Gardens next weekend.

A former world number one and three-time tournament winner, Van Gerwen has made a good name for himself over the years, but in his debut year in 2007, the Dutchman was a lot less well known.

That led to the Sky Sports presenter deciding to ask Van Gerwen how you actually pronounce his name. The player from Vlijmen, of course, was more than happy to demonstrate the correct pronunciation.
