Top seeds England through despite under par display, set to face South Africa in World Cup of Darts second round

England's duo of James Wade and Dave Chisnall are through the opening round of the 2021 World Cup of Darts despite not being at their brilliant best.

It was a 5-2 victory for the top seeds against Brazil who will now face South Africa in the second round in Jena with singles matches set to potentially suit the duo more.

It was an opening break of throw for England as they produced a 17 darter in the form of a 68 checkout but Brazil looked to settle themselves into the tie breaking straight back after England made a mess of the leg.

It was soon 2-1 to the team led by Portela with a 48 checkout after a 72 checkout chance was missed by England but Wade soon levelled up as the top seeds held.

Valle missed the opportunity to hold for Brazil and Wade produced a 64 checkout to break and go 3-2 up.

Chisnall set up 48 for Wade on return but he missed two darts to hold which went unpunished by Valle. The former returned as a result to go one away at 4-2.

While not at their best, England concluded the tie from there as Chisnall set up 40 for Wade which 'The Machine' pinned on double 10.
