Van Barneveld claims first win to end Nijman’s unbeaten run, Jenkins eases past Webster

Raymond van Barneveld is up and running in this year’s Icons of Darts Live League after ending the unbeaten run of Wessel Nijman.
Van Barneveld failed to win in the first two days of the Icons of Darts Live League; while Nijman defeated him twice with ease and won eight on the bounce.
The five-time World Champion though saw off his compatriot in a 5-4 win which featured a 94.6 average with four 180s and 5/7 on the doubles overall.
Andy Jenkins continued his fine form as well seeing off Mark Webster in a 5-1 win who was returning to action today.
The former World Championship semi-finalist hit a 98.5 average and 71% on the doubles to add to his tally from yesterday which only saw him lose once overall over the course of the day.

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
