Van Barneveld hasn't given up hope of another major win: "Dreams can come true"

Raymond van Barneveld is back at the World Matchplay for the first time since 2018. The 2010 finalist will take on Ryan Searle in the opening round.

Van Barneveld "My whole career I've been used to winning trophies. But if you see the standard nowadays with the likes of Ryan Searle,Jonny Clayton, Luke Humphries. The guys outside the top 4 they are amazing." said the 56-year-old Dutchman.

"I'm notngoing to say I'm going to win. I'm going to do my very best to get through and the we will see what's next. It's not realistic to look past Ryan Searle, he is a fantastic player. I need to prepare myself."

Nevertheless, the legendary Dutchman still dreams of one more big victory. "Dreams can come true," he laughs. "We saw this at the Grand Slam of Darts last year. I achieved the last 4, the semi-finals. Even beat Gerwyn Price over a best of 31 legs. I showed I can still do it and they know this."
