Dimitri van den Bergh not only achieved the impressive feat of winning the World Matchplay but he also broke a tournament record in the process.
Van den Bergh broke a longstanding record which has been matched; but not ever beaten; that is for 100+ finishes at the
World Matchplay.
‘The Dreammaker’ hit 12 during the 2020 edition of the tournament which eclipsed the previous record of 11 which was hit twice by
Phil Taylor (2009, 2013),
James Wade (2012) and most recent by
Alan Norris (2017).
His highest 100+ checkouts during this were 170, 164 and 156 in a phenomenal tournament for finishing from the Belgian.
