Van den Bergh set for move to England after World Matchplay glory: ‘I want to improve myself and by traveling less I will have less stress’

Dimitri van den Bergh claimed victory in the World Matchplay this past weekend and not only has his ranking and spot in the darting elite changed but also potentially where he is based.

Van den Bergh has since discussed a permanent move to England so he is travelling less to tournaments and admits his time with Peter Wright during lockdown helped him make his decision.

“I want to improve myself and by traveling less I will also have less stress. I got that insight during the Coronavirus lockdown and my stay with the Wright family.

In the meantime I have discussed this with my family and they also support this. If it is disappointing, I can still return to Belgium, after all, it is not that far away, ”says Van den Bergh to RTL 7.

The DreamMaker won his first major last Sunday, but his ambitions certainly don’t end there. “I want to become a strong, constant player that everyone should take notice of. I dream of becoming like Gary Anderson or Michael van Gerwen. Anyone who has to play them knows in advance that it will be very difficult to beat them. ”
