Van den Bergh to play World Series of Darts Finals despite health scare: "The necessary tests can't be done now"

Dimitri van den Bergh has decided to travel to Amsterdam for the World Series of Darts Finals after all. 'The Dreammaker' was in doubt about participating after he was forced to go to the hospital earlier this week.

During the German Darts Open last weekend and the day after the tournament, Van den Bergh suffered a panic attack. The Belgian went to the hospital for a check-up and also took a few days of rest.

"Dimitri had to wait until today to decide," his girlfriend Evi told Nieuwsblad.be. "But he is first on the ranking.... That's something fundamental too. The necessary tests - like at the cardiologist - can't be done now so he might as well go and try. Dimitri did really rest constantly from Tuesday until today. That did him good too, although he suffered from stomach flu in between."

"But he's going to play anyway," echoed the conclusion. "He does have to rest a lot in between there from the doctor. The appointments with specialists have been made, but until then he has to work, Dimitri thinks. So he's going to try."
