Vincent van der Voort has been around in the darts world since 2001. The 46-year-old Dutchman is known for never mincing words.
Van der Voort has recently been working mainly on the mental aspect of the sport. "I am often negative, sometimes even before I enter the stage. Of course, that doesn't help to put in a good performance and by working on it I am trying to get that under control a bit, although it will never go out completely," Van der Voort said.
"I know I am different from others," Van der Voort continued. "I feel that too. A lot of things that others take for granted are difficult for me. I am regularly told that I have again expressed something too rudely and hurt someone with it, but I often don't realise that."
Van der Voort never holds back in his words to the PDC either. "That is indeed where I differ from the top players. They often think the same, but just don't dare criticise the PDC. Even the players just below keep quiet because they want to advance to the top. That is quite a pity, because if someone like me dares to say something, it is hardly listened to. It is often like shouting in the desert."
Exactly Vin man, just like all places of work, you get the yes men, people who say what they think they want others to hear other than being honest and saying it as it is. They are happy to not bite the hand that feeds them, yet moan behind backs. The DRA get fat from the players I like Vincent, usually straight talking but oddly hates his walk on music, but won’t change it. Ultimately like most sports you have people to tell the sport stars what to say, ever heard an F1 press conference……
Hard to believe anyone would want to book Voort for an exhibition with him being the most miserable player on tour.
Bit very entertaining on demos . And on tour he's certainly not most miserable, I've had many laughs with him
