Vincent van der Voort had an interview with De Telegraaf this week on a number of topics. Among other things, he was asked about the biggest blunder in his darts career.
That blunder came just after Van der Voort made the switch from the BDO to the PDC in 2007. ''At the BDO you don't have breaks and then I had to leave the stage after a set,'' he began his story.
''I walked off on the wrong side, went around it, through a door and suddenly I was outside. Wrong door. I couldn't get back in. But after three minutes you have to get back on that stage.''
There was one problem, though. ''My phone, of course, was also in that practice room. I stood there, knocking on the door. I thought 'that's nice, you've just joined the PDC and later you have to start again, you're not there'. Fortunately, a security guard opened the door just in time. It was October, so I got back on stage with cold hands. And they kept wondering where I had been'', Van der Voort concluded his anecdote.
