In an interview with De Telegraaf,
Vincent van der Voort has revealed a remarkable story about a short-lived job at a supermarket.
The newspaper asked the darter from Purmerend about his occupation before becoming a professional dart player. Van der Voort said he only had a side job at the Albert Heijn supermarket, but 'The Dutch Destroyer' did not get beyond one working day, however.
Van der Voort, for example, was filling shelves on his first working day, until a man in a suit walked up to him. He said he could also do it with two hands. Then I said: if you can do it better, do it yourself'," Van der Voort began his anecdote.
That remark immediately cost him his job. ''All of a sudden I had to come to the office. Turned out it had been some regional director. 'You're not right for us,' I was told. Well, that was it. An instant success'', Van der Voort said in a cynical tone.
