Christopher Kempf, who keeps statistics for the PDC, calculated that
Michael van Gerwen currently has the highest averages.
For his rankings, Kempf takes into account statistics from the last 200 legs each Tour Card holder has played on the Pro Tour. Averages, 171-180 scores, finishes requiring three arrows and your percentage on doubles are taken into account.
And what turns out, not Michael Smith (who is number one on the PDC world rankings), but rather Michael van Gerwen leads these alternative rankings. In second place follows, still by a good distance,
Gary Anderson. The top three is completed by
James Wade.
It is striking that Michael Smith is not even in the top ten in this alternative ranking.
Gerwyn Price is down in fourth despite his recent back-to-back Pro Tour successes with World Youth Championship finalist
Gian van Veen rounding out the top 10.
