Van Gerwen loses to Lewis for first time since 2017 at Winter Series

Michael van Gerwen is out in the Last 32 of the PDC Winter Series after losing out to Adrian Lewis for the first time since 2017.

Van Gerwen was making his return to action for the first time since the World Cup of Darts when he suffered a reoccurrence of his back injury.

He decided to skip the first few days of the Winter Series to aid his recovery and entered the tournament through a bye in the second round.

Despite that though, he narrowly got past Richie Burnett in his first game 6-5 but lost out to his former rival 6-4 a round later. The duo have faced off a lot over the past few years but as of late, it has gone the way of the World Number One.
