On Thursday evening, Michael van Gerwen was part of the panel for the Premier League finals night and he also gave his opinion on the Race to World Number One and in particular Peter Wright's attempt.
"If he keeps playing like this, he can forget about that number one spot. But that's all he is thinking about at the moment, he has even given up a few minor tournaments for it," said Van Gerwen to RTL7.
"I myself am not so concerned with the world ranking", he continued. "Sometimes I am told how I am doing but it is not something that I am going to look up myself. I just want to win lot of games again and then I will automatically stay in the lead."
